The Philippines is a popular destination for foreigners seeking adventure, history, cultural and recreational activities and white sand beaches. Even the locals are going out of their comfort zones to explore cities they have never been before. The early inhabitants of the Philippines and also the ones that colonized it mainly influenced the multi-ethnicity of the Philippine cuisine. Such influence came from the Malays, US, Spain and Japan. In the Southern region of the Philippines is the island of Cebu - the oldest city in the country. This is the island where Ferdinand Magellan landed in 1521, hence the discovery of the Philippines. Cebu has so much to offer, like the Olango Wildlife Sanctuary. Often ignored and misunderstood, the Philippines is one of Asia's lesser-known destinations. Separated from the Asian mainland by the South China Sea, Philippines travel is often undertaken only by more adventurous backpackers, or tourists with more time than average. But those who do take a Philippines vacation find that the stunning landscapes across the archipelago and the legendary warmth of the locals make the extra effort worth their while.

Philippine tours also start out of Cebu, the country's second most populated city. It is the ideal jump-off point for visiting the top Philippines attractions - the laidback beach islands and exuberant festivals of the Visayas. Cebu, Bohol, Kalibo, Bantayan - all these names conjure images of white sand beaches or painted festival costumes - all possible to visit given the interlinked ferry systems and plenty of time.
